Reduce traffic deaths with surveillance cameras

After more than three months after the Ministry of Transport and Public Works will install the surveillance&security cameras to monitor speeding on the highway, 500 people consulted by students of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), 345 believe that the strategy is good but the amount of fines is unfair.

However, of those 500 people, half support when it comes to drunk driving should increase the amount of the part.

According to the student responsible for the survey, Hazel Delgado, could see that Costa Ricans are not happy with the MOPT measures implemented, however some people seem to agree with the fine of 210 000 colones in cases such as motorcyclists go without a helmet, driving without hands-free and disrespect for the red lights.

Given this diversity of views, all the “Ticos” hope is that by entering into force of these cameras again, the MOPT is fairer to regulate the Traffic Law. Half is optimistic and hopes that this measure will reduce road deaths.
